Meggie Noel of Roslindale is a natural advocate who is an agent of change in both her school and local community. Her volunteer experience includes participating in the Mass STAR Leadership Conference, assisting at her neighborhood YMCA and at Youth and Family Enrichment Services of Hyde Park. As a Boston Latin School student, Meggie is president of the school’s Gospel Choir, is on the board of directors for Spoken Word, and is a member of the school’s choir and orchestra as an accomplished violinist.
Meggie is most proud of her activism with B.L.A.C.K., Black Leaders Aspiring for Change and Knowledge. The club’s mission is to educate students of color and their allies about important issues facing the black community as well as the significant contributions African Americans have made to our history and society. Meggie and her peers started a campaign at Boston Latin to initiate a dialogue around race relations at the school that has extended across the Boston Public Schools and beyond. Meggie is a passionate individual who plans on being a civil rights lawyer. We commend her for taking action when she saw a need and wish her the best as she continues her education at Spelman College the fall.
