Andrew Henson

2012 Recipient

As a student in middle school, Andrew volunteered at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History as a summer camp counselor. In 2008 and 2009, Andrew participated in an expedition to the Amazon Rain Forest, which served as a scientific study and also brought a medical team to treat the indigenous people. Andrew states, “This is the only time each year that these villagers see a doctor and we delivered a year’s worth of medical supplies donated on Cape Cod.” Andrew assisted in the clinic set up. In 2009, Andrew volunteered to assist ornithologist, Mark Blazis trap and tag migrating birds in Massachusetts as well as in Ecuador. He also developed a web site to display the many photographs of those who participated and told their stories. In 2009, Andrew was invited to intern for screenwriter and director, Dan Adam. He was the producer’s assistant on the set for the movie “The Lightkeepers”. As a student at Franklin Academy, Andrew is a student representative to student government. He is also a member of the Resident Assistant program. We wish Andrew the best as he attends High Point University in September.
