2013 Recipient

As a senior at King Philip High School, Caroline completed a community service project on Hydro-plastic Left Heart Syndrome. She learned of a young child in Wisconsin with this disease, so she decided to sell bracelets at the school’s football games and at the school’s open house informing people about the disease. She visited local elementary schools to teach children about the importance heart health. The elementary students also made Valentine cards for children being treated at Boston Children’s Hospital. She raised over $2,000 for HLHS through a basketball tournament. The money was donated to the family in Wisconsin to help with medical expenses. Caroline said, “No ordinary school project could ever teach me so much about myself and about others. No assignment could ever fulfill me with such a meaning of accomplishment, adoration and lasting memories.”
