Collette O'Connor

2014 Recipient

Collette O’Connor of Pembroke is a humble self-less individual who strives to bring positivity to everything she does. Her passion for women’s health issues led to her involvement in the Ellie Fund. This Needham based non-profit provides critical, no cost support services to breast cancer patients and their families. Collette organized a fund raising walk to benefit the Ellie Fund at her high school, Fontbonne Academy. She led the planning of the entire event from designing t-shirts, promoting the walk, rallying walkers and even donning her school’s mascot costume to cheer participants on! The event was a great success, raising $3,000 for the Ellie Fund. Another example of Collette taking initiative and making a difference is through Love Your Body week, a program she started as a freshwoman. Her own experiences recovering from an eating disorder prompted her to raise awareness and teach others about the issue. We applaud Collette’s courage and drive and know she will continue to make a positive impact on her community as she
continues her education at Boston University this fall.
