2020 Recipient

Carissa understands the impact of small acts of kindness. With members of her church community, she often hands out care packages of toiletry essentials to homeless individuals in Boston. She understands that it is better to give than receive. On her 15th birthday while visiting relatives in Trinidad and Tobago, her family cooked large pots of chicken, rice, and vegetables and then delivered the meals to homeless individuals in the area. In addition, Carissa recently traveled to Vietnam with a school program to help build a water dam for farmers to be able to still harvest rice during their dry season. We applaud Carissa’s self-less spirit and are honored to present her with a Mark Bavis Leadership Foundation Scholarship. We wish her the best as she continues her studies at Temple University.
